We began our tour in the J.F. Gregory Park behind City Hall. Mayor Richard Davis pointed out the Veteran's Monument in the park which was completed several years ago. The monument is floored with bricks and the Mayor pointed out that the bricks may be purchased to recognize individual veterans. Information is available from City Hall.

Three buses were scheduled out of Savannah for the tour. Three local men who were very familiar with the Ford Plantation development acted as tour guides on the busses. They were Mayor Richard Davis, City Manager Mike Melton and John Fesperman, who had been the development golf pro. On our way to the development Mayor Davis informed us that we would be allowed to walk through the mansion. Everyone was delighted to hear that.

The homes and grounds in the 1800 acre exclusive development are very beautiful, particularly the Mansion and its many acres of surrounding grounds. The walk thru of the mansion was the highlight of the tour.

After leaving the Ford Plantation development Mayor Davis took us by the location where the new Municipal golf course and Aquatic Center are being developed. He also took us by the current high school and also pointed out several large housing developments within the city before returning to the Gregory Park.
